Accurate diagnostics are the foundation of safe and effective treatment. We do not begin treatment without understanding the root cause. Diagnostics allows us to see the full picture of how the dentofacial system - and the body as a whole - function.
Identify the true cause of pain and discomfort Assess the condition of the bite, joints, and muscles Predict the treatment outcome Avoid mistakes in orthodontics, prosthetics, and implantation Create an individualized and safe treatment plan
Unsuccessful experience with orthodontic or prosthetic treatment
Preparation for aligners, veneers, prosthetics, or implantation
When diagnostics is especially necessary
Initial consultation and questionnaire
Manual functional analysis
Assessment of lower jaw movement, muscles, joints, occlusion, and posture
Photo and video protocol
Instrumental diagnostics (CT scan, and MRI if necessary)
Model analysis and work in an articulator
Development of a temporary splint
How diagnostics is performed
The articulator makes it possible to mechanically reproduce the patient’s individual biomechanics and determine the optimal, safe position of the jaws - a key stage before any further treatment.
Work in the articulator
All changes are first tested on a splint, then (if necessary) on temporary restorations, and only after that is a final decision made about further treatment. This approach helps avoid severe, expensive, and often irreversible mistakes.
Why is a temporary splint needed?
protects the teeth and periodontal tissues
reduces overload on the joints
relaxes the muscles
improves blood supply to the TMJ
allows us to verify whether the chosen treatment strategy is correct at a reversible stage
Splint therapy
We view the body as one unified system, where jaw position affects the face, neck, posture, and overall well-being.
A regular dental check-up evaluates the condition of the teeth. Functional diagnostics examines the dentofacial system as a whole: the bite, joints, muscles, jaw movement, posture, and how they are interconnected.
No. All stages of diagnostics are comfortable and painless.
Diagnostics is especially important for pain in the jaw, head, and neck, joint clicking, bruxism, tooth wear, and also before orthodontic treatment, prosthetic treatment, and implantation.
Yes. We often work with patients after unsuccessful or incomplete treatment in order to understand the cause of the problem and adjust the дальнейшую treatment strategy.
You will receive a diagnostic report, a patented diagnostic splint developed personally by Alexander Budovsky, an understanding of the causes of your symptoms, an individualized treatment plan, and a prognosis for the next steps.
